Our Story

About Mediaura

A growth engineering firm that designs and operates the systems behind measurable marketing—connecting campaigns, data, and real-world outcomes since 2003.

We don't just run campaigns. We engineer the infrastructure that makes marketing accountable.

Media + Aura: Why We See What Others Miss

Most agencies look at a marketing dashboard and see numbers. We look at a business and see its Aura—the invisible signals connecting digital influence to real-world behavior.

When Mediaura was founded more than two decades ago, the name reflected exactly how we believe marketing works.

Media

The technical engine: the platforms, the code, the data pipelines, and the algorithms that power modern marketing.

Aura

The atmosphere around a brand: the unseen signals, the non-linear journeys, and the subtle influences that connect impressions to real customers.

Most marketing tools only measure the Media.

We focus on revealing the Aura.

Our Philosophy

A Growth Engineering Firm—Not Just an Agency

Mediaura operates differently than traditional digital marketing agencies. While most agencies focus on campaigns, we design and operate the systems that make marketing measurable and accountable.

  • Engineering reliable tracking and attribution environments
  • Connecting advertising platforms to CRM and transaction systems
  • Validating conversion signals used by AI bidding algorithms
  • Building first-party data pipelines that work in a privacy-constrained world

Once those systems are working correctly, we optimize campaigns using signals most organizations never realize exist.

This approach allows us to solve problems most agencies never see.

Our Journey

Seeing the Unseen
Since the Beginning

Over two decades of building the systems that connect marketing to real business outcomes.

'90s
Late 1990s – 2003

The Early Years

The story starts in the late 1990s. Andrew Aebersold had been programming since childhood and was working in the early internet era building websites and custom software while also running a record label. As the web began transforming how brands communicated, consulting work quickly eclipsed the music business.

In 1998, one of those early projects became a glimpse of what marketing would eventually become. Andrew built a large internal marketing resource portal for Brown-Forman that organized brand assets, activation ideas, and marketing best practices for brands like Jack Daniel's and Southern Comfort.

It was an early example of a pattern that would repeat itself for years: organizations calling Mediaura to build the digital systems nobody else could quite figure out.

Company Launch

Mediaura officially launched as a company in July 2003. At first it was just Andrew and his girlfriend—now wife—Amy, working with a small network of contractors. By 2007 the company opened its first office and began growing a team. Within a few years Mediaura had more than twenty employees and had moved into a larger headquarters in Jeffersonville.

But the work remained the same: solving difficult digital problems.

Enterprise Systems Era

Over the next decade Mediaura built marketing infrastructure used by major organizations across multiple industries.

The company developed enterprise marketing systems for brands including Darden Restaurants, Community Health Systems, and the Kentucky Community & Technical College System. These platforms allowed hundreds of locations to create on-brand marketing materials automatically, adapt content for different media channels, and manage local marketing at scale.

For KFC, Mediaura built a marketing and advertising approvals platform used for nearly a decade that tracked revisions and required multiple sign-offs across print, broadcast, and digital campaigns.

Around 2009 another project pushed the company even further into innovation. Using proprietary software called ProBuilder, Mediaura created one of the first cloud-based digital signage platforms for restaurant menu boards.

That technology eventually led to a patent and powered KFC's digital menu boards across its restaurants for several years.

The Pivot to Performance Marketing

While the company was building these enterprise systems, another opportunity began to emerge. Many clients started asking Mediaura to help run their digital marketing programs as well.

In 2009, behavioral healthcare provider Remuda Ranch hired Mediaura to manage a large Google Ads program. After analyzing the existing campaigns, Mediaura achieved better results in three months using only a third of the previous budget.

That realization revealed something important: most marketing agencies didn't truly understand the systems behind marketing performance.

Because the company had spent years building digital systems, it naturally began treating marketing like an engineering problem—fixing tracking environments, validating signals, connecting marketing activity to real business outcomes, and then optimizing campaigns based on reliable data.

Over time, performance marketing became a larger part of the business, particularly in complex industries like behavioral healthcare and multi-location brands.

The Current Era

In 2024 Mediaura formally stepped away from custom client software development to focus the company around performance marketing. But the engineering mindset never disappeared.

In early 2026, new AI-assisted development tools made it possible to build sophisticated software dramatically faster than before. Andrew returned to building systems again—this time focused entirely on improving marketing intelligence and attribution.

The result is a new generation of internal tools designed to solve problems that have frustrated marketers for years: multi-touch attribution, connecting advertising to real-world purchases, validating marketing signals, and uncovering hidden failures inside marketing systems.

Today Mediaura operates as a performance marketing firm built on decades of engineering experience. The company still runs campaigns, manages SEO, and drives digital growth for its clients. But behind those campaigns is something deeper: a set of systems designed to make marketing measurable, transparent, and accountable.

When the system works, marketing works. And when it doesn't, no amount of creativity or ad spend can fix it.

Our Process

How We Work

1

Diagnose the System

We audit tracking infrastructure, data pipelines, and attribution signals to identify hidden failures.

2

Engineer the Foundation

We implement reliable measurement architecture so marketing decisions are based on trustworthy data.

3

Optimize for Growth

With the system functioning correctly, we run campaigns and experiments that drive measurable outcomes.

Skin in
the Game

Our philosophy is simple. Marketing should be accountable to outcomes.

We don't believe in disconnected tasks or vanity metrics. We believe in building systems that allow marketing investments to be measured against real business results.

That's why our clients trust us not only to run campaigns, but to guide decisions about how their entire marketing ecosystem should work.

When we engage with a client, we don't simply execute services. We invest our expertise, our tools, and our reputation in their growth.
